Obituary
Eli “Lee” Levinson, of Flushing, NY, passed away on May 16, 2024, at the age of 95.
He was born in New York City to Abraham and Julia Levinson on May 14, 1929, and grew up in the Sunnyside neighborhood of Queens. While attending Queens College, he met the love of his life, Ernestine. They made their home in Flushing, where they raised their children, Elise and Jason.
Lee enjoyed life to the fullest including traveling, and attending cultural and educational events. His outgoing personality and ease of making friends, as well as his great sense of humor was beloved by all who knew him. He was a natural entertainer, and his musical abilities on the keyboard allowed him to showcase his skills as a professional musician. He loved working as an educator in the New York City school system, which allowed him to pursue his musical and athletic passions when he wasn’t teaching. Weekends and summers he could be found entertaining for events and occasions. He was also an avid, active, and skilled tennis player and enjoyed regular games of chess.
He shared his great musical abilities and interest with his son. He also shared his birthday with his daughter and adored being a grandparent to her children. He was especially thrilled to get to know his great-granddaughter during his later years and always smiled when her name was mentioned.
Eli is survived by his wife of nearly 69 years, Ernestine Levinson, his daughter Elise and his son-in-law Warren Daniel of Durham, NH, son Jason Levinson of Flushing, NY and significant other Linda Kirschner,
granddaughters Marisa Lovaincy and her spouse Ro of Malden, MA, Lia Daniel of Madbury, NH, and great-granddaughter Carina Lovaincy. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Julia and Abraham Levinson, and his brother, Edward Levinson.
A private family service and burial will be held at Sharon Gardens, Valhalla NY.
